About Devotional: Elder Matthew L. Carpenter at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Elder Matthew L. Carpenter, a distinguished leader within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will grace the campus of Brigham Young University (BYU) with his presence.

Elder Matthew L. Carpenter’s journey to becoming a General Authority Seventy is remarkable. He was sustained in this role on March 31, 2018. Before this sacred calling, he faithfully served as a member of the ‘Sixth Quorum of the Seventy’ in the North America Central Area.

His dedication and service didn’t stop there. He has been an assistant to the Utah Area Presidency and a counselor in the North America Central Area Presidency. He has contributed to various committees at Church Headquarters.

Currently, he serves as the First Counselor in the Africa Central Area Presidency, continuing to bless lives worldwide with his leadership and guidance.

Elder Carpenter’s commitment to education is evident in his impressive academic journey. He got a degree in business management at BYU in 1983. Then, he went to Harvard Business School and got another business degree in 1987.

For those who can’t attend this event in person, there’s good news!

Elder Carpenter’s remarks will be broadcast live on various platforms, including BYUtv, BYUtv.org (with the option for on-demand streaming), KBYU-TV 11, Classical 89 FM, BYUradio 107.9 FM, and SiriusXM 143. Video, text, and audio of his remarks will be archived on speeches.byu.edu.

About the author of Move to Provo Utah Website

Katerina Gasset

When I moved here I was blessed to have my daughter to help with different things you need to know when you move to a new place. I had background from living here before but things have changed a lot too since the '80s.

We were able to get all the good places to eat down fast - since she knows all that and we have a lot of the same likes in food. But things like how to turn on my electricity or what power company services my home... well... I was at a total loss!

I know that other people moving to Provo don't always have family here to guide and help them. And most people don't have a real estate agent who gives them a welcome package on all the important numbers and places they need to know.

My goal is for this website to be your go to resource for everything you need to know before, during, and after you move here to Provo, Utah. I want you to have the best experience and love living here as much as I do
