Schmutz\, General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints\, will give a devotional address on Tuesday\, February 13.  \nElder Schmutz was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 2\, 2016. Before that\, he had dedicated his time to the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the Utah South Area.  \nFrom 2016 to 2020\, he served as a counselor and later as the president of the Philippines Area. He’s currently serving in the Utah Area Presidency and has positions in the Correlation and International Coordinating Departments.  \nElder Schmutz earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1979 and a juris doctorate in 1982 from BYU. He worked with law firms in Provo and Salt Lake City\, Utah.  \nAt the time of his calling as a General Authority\, he was the managing partner in the Lehi office of Durham\, Jones & Pinegar.  \nElder Schmutz’s devotional will be broadcast live on BYUtv\, BYUtv.org (with on-demand streaming)\, KBYU-TV 11\, Classical 89 FM\, and BYUradio 107.9 FM. Paul Getty Museum\, the Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State\, and the Springville Museum of Art. \nShe is an expert in Modern and Contemporary art\, including French\, American\, and Asian art. \nIn April 2021\, she became the Director of the Museum of Art\, taking over from Mark Magleby.  \nDuring the ‘Spain and the Hispanic World’ Gallery Talk\, you’ll see prehistoric Iberian earthenware\, Roman-era sculpture\, beautifully illustrated manuscripts from medieval times\, religious artifacts\, maps from the Age of Exploration\, Latin American jewelry\, and masterpieces created by famous Spanish artists.  \nMore than 150 art pieces\, relics\, and ancient items will be displayed.  \nThis event is free and open to all!
