Brigham Young University’s Synthesis will perform at the annual Essentially Ellington Regional Jazz Festival on February 17, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.
Synthesis is made up of 18-20 of BYU’s finest musicians. They play a variety of genres, including swing, blues, jazz, and pop. Latin, funk, and fusion.
Synthesis creates their own compositions. They have performed at jazz festivals worldwide, such as the Ninth International Festival of Jazz in Ezcaray and the 41st San Sebastian Festival.
In 2022, they were invited by Wynton Marsalis to perform at the Jack Rudin Jazz Championship, where they won awards for the best trombone and trumpet section. Individual members also received Outstanding Soloist Awards.
