Here are the dates and times when you can see “The House of Desires” in Provo Utah:
The ‘House of Desires’ event will be held at the West Campus Studio Theatre in BYU West Campus. You can find it at 1126 N University Avenue, Provo Utah 84604.
The West Campus Studio Theatre presents “The House of Desires” by Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. The play was adapted by Catherine Boyle and directed by Adam Houghton.
“The House of Desires” is set in the Spanish Golden Age, and it’s a tale of confusion and mistaken identity, complete with wily servants and witless nobles. This adaptation explores the agency of women in a society governed by strict moral codes.
There will be post-show discussions on March 21 and 28, where you can learn more about the play’s history. You can also join the scholarly conversation with Dr. Valerie Hegstrom, a Spanish Golden Age theatre expert, on March 30.
ASL interpretation will be provided during the performance on March 28.
The “House of Desires” is suitable for children young and old, but it is intended for ages 12 and up. Parents are encouraged to use their discretion when planning attendance for kids.
You can buy tickets for “The House of Desires” at arts.byu.edu. See you at the theatre!
