About Devotional: Elder Evan A. Schmutz at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah 

Elder Evan A. Schmutz, General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will give a devotional address on Tuesday, February 13. 

Elder Schmutz was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 2, 2016. Before that, he had dedicated his time to the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the Utah South Area. 

From 2016 to 2020, he served as a counselor and later as the president of the Philippines Area. He’s currently serving in the Utah Area Presidency and has positions in the Correlation and International Coordinating Departments. 

Elder Schmutz earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1979 and a juris doctorate in 1982 from BYU. He worked with law firms in Provo and Salt Lake City, Utah. 

At the time of his calling as a General Authority, he was the managing partner in the Lehi office of Durham, Jones & Pinegar. 

Elder Schmutz's devotional will be broadcast live on BYUtv, BYUtv.org (with on-demand streaming), KBYU-TV 11, Classical 89 FM, and BYUradio 107.9 FM. You can also listen on SiriusXM 143.

When I moved here I was blessed to have my daughter to help with different things you need to know when you move to a new place. I had background from living here before but things have changed a lot too since the '80s. 

We were able to get all the good places to eat down fast - since she knows all that and we have a lot of the same likes in food. But things like how to turn on my electricity or what power company services my home... well... I was at a total loss! 

I know that other people moving to Provo don't always have family here to guide and help them. And most people don't have a real estate agent who gives them a welcome package on all the important numbers and places they need to know. 

My goal is for this website to be your go to resource for everything you need to know before, during, and after you move here to Provo, Utah. I want you to have the best experience and love living here as much as I do
