About Eighth Blackbird in Provo, Utah
The renowned chamber ensemble Eighth Blackbird takes center stage on February 9, 2024. This is part of the grand 40th anniversary celebration of BYU’s Barlow Endowment for Music Composition.
Eighth Blackbird has been at the forefront of modern classical music since 1996. It has won four Grammy Awards!
This event will have the first-ever performance of a piece by Bekah Simms called ‘Metamold.’ She won the Barlow Prize in 2020 for this piece.
There’s also a concerto called ‘Vital Sines’ by Viet Cuong, in collaboration with BYU’s Wind Symphony.
