Thai Hut Restaurant: Fresh Thai Food in Provo, Utah

By Katerina Gasset

Milet (my oldest daughter) and I drove down to St.George to visit some of my grandchildren, my younger daughter, and her husband. On our way back home to Provo, we were starving!

We were driving through downtown Provo around 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Most downtown restaurants are closed between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. getting ready for the dinner menu and patrons.

One of the few restaurants open in Provo Utah between 3-5pm, Thai Hut Restaurant saved me from starvation with their delicious Thai Food...

Thai Hut Restaurant Location in Provo

This left us with few choices.

We discovered Thai Hut which serves fresh Thai food was open! YEAH!

We were the only customers in the restaurant at 3:30-ish.

We figured the reason is because most people living in Provo know that restaurants are typically closed between 3 and 5 p.m.

The decor was beautiful, and the restaurant was spacious and clean.

This is the Thai curry me and my daughter ordered from Provo Utah. It's nice to learn they use the freshest ingredients...

Thai Hut Restaurant Menu Items

I ordered the Pangang curry with vegetables and Milet ordered the Pad Ped which was made with pork belly.

We shared the cream cheese WonTons and the pot stickers. They were both so fresh and soft. I loved the texture. You can tell they were freshly made and not from the frozen food vendors.

The cream cheese wontons me and my daughter shared when we dined in at Thai Hut Restaurant in Provo. The food they ate were all fresh and soft!

About Thai Hut Restaurant in Provo, Utah

It all started with a man named Dao Vannarath, who came to the U.S. from Laos in 1987. After living in Southern California for almost 20 years, he moved to Utah with a dream of opening his own restaurant.

Dao knew that people in Utah love good food, and he wanted to bring authentic Thai cuisine to the area.

So in 2004, he opened Thai Hut, a family-operated restaurant that serves up delicious Thai dishes.

The menu at Thai Hut is full of traditional Thai soups, salads, curries and stir-fried dishes. And if you’re vegetarian or gluten-free, they’ve got options for you too because Dao wanted to make sure everyone could enjoy his amazing food.

You can tell that each dish is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and authentic Thai spices and flavors.

Thai Hut's great atmosphere, as you can see in this photo I took, is what made me give it a 5-star rating. The decors and plants made our dining experience awesome...

Apart from the food, it’s the cozy ambiance that sets Thai Hut apart from other restaurants. You’ll love the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner with friends and family.

Dao takes pride in operating his restaurant as a family business, and his love for Utah’s family values and outdoor activities shines through.

The other thing that I noticed - I didn’t gain any salt weight after eating there. That is huge! Most of the time I gain about 2 to 3 pounds of water weight from the heavy salt restaurants use in their menus. The weight goes away after a couple of days. But it shows me if a restaurant is using way too much salt in their food items.

About the author of Move to Provo Utah Website

Katerina Gasset

When I moved here I was blessed to have my daughter to help with different things you need to know when you move to a new place. I had background from living here before but things have changed a lot too since the '80s.

We were able to get all the good places to eat down fast - since she knows all that and we have a lot of the same likes in food. But things like how to turn on my electricity or what power company services my home... well... I was at a total loss!

I know that other people moving to Provo don't always have family here to guide and help them. And most people don't have a real estate agent who gives them a welcome package on all the important numbers and places they need to know.

My goal is for this website to be your go to resource for everything you need to know before, during, and after you move here to Provo, Utah. I want you to have the best experience and love living here as much as I do
