Best Seafood Restaurants in and near Provo Utah

By Katerina Gasset

I grew up soaking in the salty breeze and feasting on the freshest seafood imaginable in sunny Florida. Grilled shrimp, lobster soup – you name it, I loved it!

Then, life led me to Provo Utah, far from the ocean and surrounded by mountains. At first, I had my doubts about finding good seafood here. But to my surprise, Provo has some fantastic seafood restaurants despite being miles from the coast!

I’m excited to share my favorite seafood spots in and around Provo.  Even surrounded by mountains, you can still get your seafood fix here in Provo Utah.

1. Kickin’ Seafood Restaurant

  • Monday-Thursday: 11:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday: 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Kickin’ Seafood offers a Cajun-style dining experience in Orem Utah. The restaurant’s interior is casual with lively decor.

The menu at Kickin’ Seafood is extensive. There’s something to satisfy every craving – their signature seafood boils, mouthwatering appetizers, and sandwiches.

They have combo meals with all your favorite seafood–shrimp, crawfish, clams, and more! They’re priced well for the big portions you get. If you’re really into Cajun flavors, you’ll love their boiled seafood in a bag. Pick your favorite seafood, sauce, and spice level!

My first visit to Kickin’ Seafood left me surprised by the size and quality of the portions.

Accompanied by my two sons, we ordered this huge bag with Dungeness crab. It was awesome! The crawfish and shrimp complemented the meal perfectly.

We also tried the shrimp Po Boy sandwich and the Cajun wings, which were delicious!

Kickin’ Seafood is open on Sundays, which is great for when you’re craving seafood on the weekend. You can walk in between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. without a reservation and still get a good seat. If you’re in a hurry or just wanna chill at home, you can grab your food to go.

Pier 8 Cajun Seafood Restaurant is the newest hotspot in Orem Utah, near Kickin’ Seafood. It offers a lively atmosphere and delicious food inspired by the flavors of Louisiana.

The lively and inviting atmosphere is perfect for hanging out with family and friends or even for a date night. The menu contains tasty dishes made with fresh seafood and authentic Cajun flavors from New Orleans.

Pier 8 has a lot to offer from appetizers to desserts. You can start your meal with their appetizers like garlic bread, crabmeat fries, or coconut shrimp. Try the fried calamari or shrimp cocktail for a real taste of the ocean!

For the main course, you can’t go wrong with Pier 8’s Cajun specials. Treat yourself to dishes such as Cajun Chicken Alfredo or Shrimp and Sausage Étouffée, served over rice for a hearty and flavorful meal.

Don’t miss out on their famous seafood bags, where you can customize your meal with your favorite seafood and seasoning!

During my visit to Pier 8, I just had to try the Shrimp and Sausage Étouffée. It reminded me of Louisiana. The rich flavors and tender shrimp perfectly complemented the spicy Creole sauce.

My son, Tristan, opted for the build-your-own seafood bag loaded with mussels, crawfish, and Pier 8’s signature Cajun spice. The smell alone was mouthwatering!

We indulged in New Orleans-style beignets for dessert, fresh and hot out of the kitchen!

Have you tried their Empapelado de Mariscos? It’s a delicious mix of bass fillet, scallops, octopus, shrimp, mushrooms, veggies, and sour cream. It’s so good!

My first visit to Mariscos Los Chinchorros was amazing! My son tried their “Molcajete Maya,” which has fresh Mexican cheese, chicken, quail steak, Mexican sausage, and molcajete sauce, served with rice, beans, and salad.

About the author of Move to Provo Utah Website

Katerina Gasset

When I moved here I was blessed to have my daughter to help with different things you need to know when you move to a new place. I had background from living here before but things have changed a lot too since the '80s.

We were able to get all the good places to eat down fast - since she knows all that and we have a lot of the same likes in food. But things like how to turn on my electricity or what power company services my home... well... I was at a total loss!

I know that other people moving to Provo don't always have family here to guide and help them. And most people don't have a real estate agent who gives them a welcome package on all the important numbers and places they need to know.

My goal is for this website to be your go to resource for everything you need to know before, during, and after you move here to Provo, Utah. I want you to have the best experience and love living here as much as I do
