There is a saying among people who live in Provo… don’t leave Heber City without grabbing a milkshake from Granny’s Drive-In.
It’s not just about the delicious shakes, though – it’s about the history of this place. It’s been serving up shakes and burgers for 40 years since 1982 and is still going strong.
Is there a line? Yes! There is always a line wrapped around the corner most of the time. But it is worth the wait!

What Kind of Food Does Granny’s Drive-In Serve?
Granny’s Drive-In is famous for its milkshake, which overflows over the top of the cups they serve them in.
There are seasonal specials.
At Granny’s Drive-In, you can expect to find generous sizes of your favorite milkshakes.
I ordered a medium and could not finish it. I was really full after just a few sips. This is what it looked like:
My daughter ordered a mini because she knew she could not finish even a small one.
My son’s friend ordered a small one. Even the small one was huge and overflowing with delicious flavor.
I ordered the medium raspberry milkshake. They use fresh raspberries and are not sweetened, so there is a bit of a tang to the milkshake, which I love.
My daughter ordered the Grasshopper. This is a mint milkshake with Oreo cookies in it. I’m not sure what it is about mint, but it always tastes so good. My daughter loves the way it makes her mouth tingle and makes her feel refreshed.
I looked at the menu and saw two options for my son’s favorite milkshake flavor: chocolate and vanilla. He chose Death By Chocolate shake.
The first sip of this chocolate milkshake was so good. It is the best chocolate milkshake! If you love chocolate, this is the one to order.
The Granny’s Drive-In is one of my favorite places because they have a variety of burgers on their menu. We love trying them all out and seeing which one is our favorite.
We all ordered cheeseburgers of different varieties.
My granddaughter loves french fries, so we ordered their fries. The fries were not the best in the world, but they were still good enough for her to eat.
I think Chick Fil A’s fries are the best because they are always crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with no burnt spots or anything like that. Five Guys comes in second with their delicious fries.
Another one of my sons ordered the onion rings, which were not that bad. Typical frozen and deep-fried version.
Their hamburgers are famous because of the beef short rib they use. They make great burgers, though, so if you’re in the area, give them a try.
The buns are from Salt City Baking Company and are always fresh and fluffy. So next time you’re enjoying a burger at Granny’s, you know you are getting the freshest bun.

Granny's Drive-In Atmosphere
If you bring your children with you or a group of friends go together, one person can stand in line while the others play cornhole. They have a cornhole game located right under the Granny’s Drive-In sign.
You can sit outside or inside to eat. Usually, you will find more tables available outside.
The weather was really nice when we went, and we spotted a table in the shade. My granddaughter reserved it by sitting at the table while we were in line to order.
Dining Experience at Granny's Drive-In
The counter staff are friendly, typically young teens working. We have been to Granny’s Drive-In several times and always encountered smiles at the counter.
They give you a little slip with your number on it. When your number is called, you go inside to get your order.
Your milkshakes will be called first. Each time we have been there, we had two different call-outs. One for our milkshakes and one for our meals.
