Malawi’s Pizza in Provo: Pizza With a Purpose

Malawi’s Pizza is located in Provo at the Shops at Riverwoods. This is a quiet little hideaway with a purpose. 

I love going to Malawi’s Pizza knowing that for every pizza or salad I order, a child in Malawi Africa is also getting a meal. 

Malawi Pizza offers a lunch special which includes a personal size artisan wood fired pizza, a side salad, and a drink.

What is the atmosphere like in Malawi's Pizza Provo Utah?

The atmosphere of Malawi’s Pizza is relaxed yet inviting. There are several seating options available including booths, tables and a bar height seating area, so you can find the most comfortable spot for your visit. 

Ordering your meal is simple. You go to the counter and make your selection. The staff will call you when your order is ready. You pick up your order and then go back to your table to eat. 

You can order your meal to go or to eat in the restaurant. For added convenience, they also offer curbside pick up.

We go to Malawi’s Pizza often because of their purpose. It is never too crowded or busy to find seating. 

And you can’t beat the prices. The pizzas sell for between $8 to $12 currently, making them quite affordable for everyone. You can watch them create your pizza and toss it into the wood fired oven. 

My favorite pizza is the Malawi Capri with rosemary infused olive oil, fresh mozzarella cheese, house-made tomato bruschetta, with roasted yellow tomatoes. 

Yes, they make their own house dressings and bruschetta. 

In addition to this signature dish, there are many other unique pizzas available for you. My grandkids love the pepperoni pizza and my adult children like the sausage and mushroom pizza. 

If you are hungry you may be able to eat the entire pizza, it is a personal size but larger than other personal pizzas. 

Their crusts are some of the best around. They are hand-tossed so each pizza is not exactly the same but still has that perfect wood fire flavor with just enough burnt edging on the side. 

The walls are adorned with pictures of children in Malawi. While we eat our pizza we watch the videos about the Malawi villages, the millions of meals this restaurant has provided to the children of Malawi and other interesting cultural bits of information. 

The customer service is amazing. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I have not experienced a staff member with a bad attitude. They are always smiling and willing to help out in any way possible. 

So far Malawi Pizza has provided over 2,000,000 (2 million) meals to children in Malawi – and counting! Now that is “Food with a purpose”! 

How Malawi’s Pizza Provo, Utah Started

Malawi’s Pizza in Provo, Utah was founded in 2010 by Blake Roney and Chef Kent Andersen. After Blake had done a humanitarian trip to Malawi, he teamed up with Chef Kent and created the Meal for Meal Exchange Program. 

The goal of the Meal-for-Meal Exchange Program was to provide nutrient-dense meals to children in Malawi, Africa. To make this possible, they source local maize and blend it with vitamins and nutrients before delivering the meals directly to schools and villages throughout the country. 

This program was created with the support of Feed the Children, whom they partnered with to deliver meals to those in need. 

Malawis’ Pizza has become a staple of Provo culture since its founding in 2010. 

At the core of Malawi’s Pizza lies a team of hardworking people: the General Manager, Restaurant Manager, line cooks, and the pizza oven chef. This team works together to ensure that customers receive the best service possible and are satisfied with their meals.
