One of my favorite restaurants for meat lovers is Tucanos Brazilian Grill in Provo/Orem.
This locally owned restaurant serves authentic Brazilian cuisine using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients.
Whether I’m in the mood for a delicious steak, an indulgent seafood dish, or some of the best traditional Brazilian sides and desserts, I know that I can count on Tucanos to satisfy my cravings.

Inside Tucanos Brazilian Grill
You can choose indoor seating and outdoor seating. Tucanos is always busy. You really need to make reservations. When we went, the online reservation was not working.
They told us to phone in our reservations in the future. The hostess said it would be about a 20-minute wait since we didn’t have reservations.
A Tucanos Cue is placed on your table when you are seated, and it is used to signal to the servers whether you would like more meats or not. If you turn the Tucanos Cue over to the green side, that means you are still enjoying your meal and would like more of the meats.
When you are finished or want to take a break, just flip the Tucanos Cue over to the red side. It’s that simple!
Tucanos Grill Dining Experience
I have been visiting my daughter and her family here in Provo/Orem each year for the past 7 years leading up to the year I bought a home in Provo and moved here permanently.
On each of our visits, I sent my youngest son to the BYU Baseball camps and the LDS EFY program on the BYU University campus.
At the end of each BYU high school baseball camp, the coach would give each player a coupon for one free dinner at Tucano’s Brazilian Grill.
This is how I discovered Tucano’s Brazilian Grill in Provo/Orem at the University Mall.
Brazilian Grills are known for their meats.
As soon as you sit down at the table, the meats start coming. My favorite part of eating at a Brazilian steakhouse or grill – is when the meats are brought to your table on skewers.
They also bring grilled pineapple and cut it before your eyes. I love the way the grill chars the outside of the fruit, giving it a delicious smoky flavor. And the sweetness of the pineapple pairs perfectly with the savory meat.
Each person at your table gets a set of tongs. You use these to help the server pull the piece of meat, pineapple or veggies off the skewer so that your fingers and forks don’t touch the food.
The grilled pineapple is one of our family favorites!
When it comes to meats, we love the top sirloin, flank steak, fillet mignon, and linquica (a South American sausage).
They’re all delicious! But there’s just something special about a good old-fashioned top sirloin steak. It’s got that perfect mix of juicy flavor and tenderness.
I can cook chicken at home, but I rarely cook beef cut at home, so that is always something we like to eat when we go to higher-end restaurants.
At Tucano’s, you pay one price per person and eat all you want. This is called the "rodizio” style of dining, and according to legend, it all started with a mistake.
Apparently, there was a waiter in Rio Grande do Sul who accidentally delivered a skewer of barbecued meat to the wrong table. But instead of sending it back, the guest at that table got to try a little piece. And just like that, the rodizio sensation was born!
Now, I’m not sure if that story is true or not, but one thing’s for sure: this type of dining is definitely something special. The variety of meats on offer is amazing.
You can eat as much as you want for one set price, so it’s perfect for those with a hearty appetite!
Tucanos Brazilian Grill also has an all-you-can-eat buffet area full of fresh salads, Brazilian and South American flare like Argentinian rolls, cilantro lime rice, Cuban black beans, and so much more.
I get it. Some people aren’t adventurous eaters. For those Americans who won’t try exotic dishes, there are plenty of classic dishes – like noodles with Alfredo sauce, spaghetti noodles with marinara sauce, and so on.

How to Order at Tucanos Brazilian Grill
I highly suggest you call and make reservations. Their online reservations rarely work, and they turn it off the day of. So it is best to call them at (801) 224-4774 to make your reservations.
Without reservations, you could be waiting over 45 minutes for a table.
You can also visit their website for more info: https://www.tucanos.com/.
Review - 4 Stars
Years ago, I would give Tucanos a 5-star review, but now I have lowered it to 4 stars. The reason is that now they kind of try to hurry you through your meal and out the door to make room for the next patrons.
I get that they’re busy, but it really takes away from the dining experience. I mean, I don’t want to feel rushed when I’m eating!

Don’t get me wrong – Tucanos is still a great restaurant, but I think the service has gone downhill.
We waited longer for the good meats to arrive at our table. Whereas in years past, they were very good at bringing a variety of different meats and also asked us what we wanted more of.
