Savory Thai Restaurant Near Provo Utah

By Katerina Gasset

Trying to find a good Thai restaurant can be quite the task. But, it depends on who you ask! If you have friends who moved here from Thailand, you can get good advice.

I wanted to get some good green Thai curry so I started asking around.

It also has been a huge disappointment to read reviews online these days. The sites that host reviews like Yelp and Google do not publish all the good reviews. Both of those companies are notorious for this tactic. Yelp wants the businesses to pay them. I found it is best to get personal recommendations.

One of my neighbors told me the only Thai restaurant she will go to is Savory Thai, which is in Orem on Center Street. I decided to take her advice and give it a try.

It is a ten-minute drive from my house. Even though Savory Thai is not in Provo- it is closer to my house in the Provo Hills than the restaurants in downtown Provo. It takes me about 15 minutes to get to Center Street in Provo and 10 minutes to get to Center Street in Orem. Travel time depends more on where you live in Provo.

Savory Thai is delicious! We chose to go at 6 p.m. to avoid the crowds. It can get busy at dinnertime.

The food is served family style. I like family style because you can have some of different items. This is also how we ate at Ombu Grill All You Can Eat Korean BBQ, one of the restaurants me and my family enjoyed eating at here in Provo.

The prices were extremely reasonable. I was so impressed with their pricing. Most of our items we ordered were between $12 and $15 per item.

Thai Coconut Soup at Savory Thai

We ordered the Chicken Thai Coconut soup. It came in a large Thai soup dish. It was gentle, as it should be. The soup is thin. This is how a Thai coconut soup should be. The texture was perfect. It was $12 for enough to serve 4 people.

One of my sons ordered the Beef Pad Thai. I am always nervous about ordering Pad Thai even in Thai restaurants because I don’t like my noodles sticky. This seems to be a problem with many restaurants. But at Savory Thai, their Pad Thai was the perfect consistency. The noodles did not stick together!

Another son ordered the Duck in Red Curry sauce. Oh, my! It was delicious! Just enough spice, too.

I ordered the Green Vegetable Thai Curry. It was a nice consistency, the veggies were good. The only veggie that was missing was mushrooms. I like to have mushrooms in my curry.

I make curry at home and everyone loves it. This means we are pretty picky on curry when we eat at a restaurant.

Savory Thai Restaurant Atmosphere

I must say, Savory Thai was excellent! The restaurant is small and cozy. I highly recommend making reservations on the weekends, especially at dinnertime.

Savory Thai is a clean restaurant. The eating area was all clean, not cluttered, nice and quiet… peaceful… enjoyable.

Savory Thai Restaurant Ambience

The bathrooms were spotless! That says a lot about the restaurant’s caring about cleanliness and the image they present to their customers. They also have 2 bathrooms, one for men and one for women. This was a nice change for a small restaurant.

When I moved here I was blessed to have my daughter to help with different things you need to know when you move to a new place. I had background from living here before but things have changed a lot too since the '80s.

We were able to get all the good places to eat down fast - since she knows all that and we have a lot of the same likes in food. But things like how to turn on my electricity or what power company services my home... well... I was at a total loss!

I know that other people moving to Provo don't always have family here to guide and help them. And most people don't have a real estate agent who gives them a welcome package on all the important numbers and places they need to know.

My goal is for this website to be your go to resource for everything you need to know before, during, and after you move here to Provo, Utah. I want you to have the best experience and love living here as much as I do
